Ripping out apologies
Fear ensues, reliance lingers.
Enemies as allies, whisper
Now and then and now and then and
Sincerity is the most flattering form of mockery-
Can't I find solace in the knowledge that
Nothing compares to the untouched, untarnished?
But...if this isn't it, what could they compare me to?
Dry-swallowing
Pills of
Disillusionment, I falter
I'm longing to get lost in a crowd,
To feel the world revolve without me until it is
(Almost) Too much to bear,
Feel excitement building in my chest and a want
For someone who's eyes will flash with recognition.
I want to pull you over and break that bit of nervousness. I want to talk to you again.
I want to see you here, open my bedroom door and see you sitting their grinning, eager to exclaim, "What took you?"
I want you home safe.
I want to revel in your company.
I want to explain myself.
I want to stand with you as long as you'll let me.
Let's establish new connections:
New words
New music
New faults
New chances
No footprints, just sand.

Some people value their own life. Others are willing to give theirs for anybody. I'm both the former and the latter.
Small typo though: "sitting their grinning" should be "sitting there grinning".
